W2 Professorship for Farm Animal Housing and Biology

Reference is made to § 61 section 7 Hessisches Hochschulgesetz (HHG) and to conditions of employment based on § 62 HHG. Proficient knowledge of German is expected. The successful candidate will represent the faculty in teaching and research as follows:

Applicants should have a degree in agricultural sciences, particularly in the field of animal sciences or veterinary medicine, a doctorate with merit as well as internationally recognized scientific achievements (e.g. habilitation, original research publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals etc.) in the area of farm animal housing and biology. Applicants moreover should be highly qualified and experienced in teaching of students.

Teaching in animal housing and related areas for the BSc- and MSc programs has to be carried out according to the teaching requirements of the faculty as well as participation in the educational program for students of veterinary medicine. 

Participation in the further development of teaching programs is desired. A research focus on basic and applied aspects of the development of housing systems for economically relevant animal species such as cattle or pig, involving modern etho-physiological methods and procedures as well as interconnection with data on Precision Livestock Farming, is expected and has to be documented with high-quality publications.

The candidate’s participation in the training of graduates is expected as well as the willingness to contribute to research co-operations with other research groups within both the faculty and the university. Experience in raising third-party funds and in carrying out research projects is a prerequisite. Moreover, further acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects is desired.
