Job offer: Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor

Kansas State UniversityThe Department of Clinical Sciences and the Veterinary Health Center, College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University invites applications for a tenure track, research-focused, assistant/associate professor position in Food Animal Therapeutics

The successful candidate is expected to develop and establish a strong, extramurally funded research program focused on food animal therapeutics, with an emphasis on antimicrobial efficacy, resistance and stewardship. The research program will be conducted in a team environment with extensive collaboration opportunities available within the college and university. The research program is expected to focus on creating new knowledge which supports food animal veterinarians in their use of drugs in clinical practice. The successful candidate is also expected to establish a graduate program in food animal therapeutics, develop and participate in graduate-level courses, and participate in outreach programs supporting judicious drug use by food animal veterinarians. A team focus will be to support antimicrobial stewardship, and the judicious use of all drugs in food animals, through a web-based platform for veterinary students and practicing veterinarians which will be coupled with additional educational opportunities.

The starting date is negotiable. Professorial rank is based on academic experience and accomplishments commensurate with departmental guidelines for each academic rank. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience and qualifications.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Required qualifications include a DVM or equivalent degree and a Ph.D. in an appropriate field related to food animal therapeutics. Board certification or board eligibility in his or her field of expertise is a preferred qualification. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following: food animal practice, conduct of clinical studies in a field environment, therapeutic efficacy studies, antimicrobial resistance, and food animal disease models.
